To get an idea of what products are in demand, take a look at Google Trends or Lycos Top 50 or even on Clickbank.com. I would also recommend digging around in the forums relating to your market.

Look at the number of competitors in your market. If the market is saturated with too many competitors it may be hard to break into if you are new and thus would make it extremely hard to make any money. Look at what products your competitors are selling and how many are selling the same products you intend to sell. How are they selling those products? Is everyone doing PPC advertising?

It’s much easier to break into a market with less competition and should prove to be more profitable for you if you have strong targeted marketing campaigns.

While many people will tell you to simply take a look at Clickbank’s gravity numbers on any given product, a lot more consideration needs to be given to a product if you hope to turn a profit.
